Digital Dissertations, 1861-present for dissertations, 1962-present for theses.
Offers the full text of dissertations from 1997 forward. Those from the University of Minnesota and other CIC (Big Ten) institutions are freely available to members of the University community. The first twenty-four pages of other institutions' dissertations can be displayed to anyone. Other options are available for borrowing and purchasing dissertations.
The complete set of dissertations from CIC schools can also be searched separately through Proquest's Current Research@" service.

DiscoveryGate includes Beilstein (physical property and reaction data for more than 10 million organic compounds) and Gmelin (similar types of information for over 2.2 million inorganic and organometallic compounds); PC users will need to download a piece of software to use DiscoveryGate and all users may need to make an exception for blocked pop-up windows.

This database incorporates into one data set the public releasable records from Nuclear Science Abstracts, Energy Research Abstracts, and the Energy Data Base. It encompasses information from disciplines of interest to the Department of Energy (DOE), such as chemistry, physics, materials, environmental science, geology, engineering, mathematics, climatology, oceanography, computer science, and related disciplines, and includes reports, conference papers, journal articles, books, dissertations, patents, and legislative materials.

A project by the Bibliothèque Nationale de France to digitize documents from the Middle Ages to the early 20th century. Both French and premier foreign journals are included. The Department of Energy's PrePRINT Network provides users with searching capability across multiple servers of over 6,000 preprint sites, as well as report series from many universities. It covers scientific and technical disciplines of concern to DOE, including physics, materials, chemistry, biology, environmental sciences, and nuclear medicine. Often, full-text is available.

SAE Digital Library covers all aspects of the design, manufacture, and technology of ground vehicles. SAE is the premier automotive and ground vehicle transportation professional society.
For older papers use the Library's collection of SAE technical papers from 1948-2001 on level S, under call number TL1 .S552.
